2004 Museum Expo
The 1st Museum and Relevant Products and Technologies Exposition was inaugurated at 9:30, May 18, 2004 at the China Agricultural Museum in Beijing.
Honored guests from different departments and associations attended the opening ceremony: Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee He Luli; Vice Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology Luan Enjie; Deputy director general of State Administration of Cultural Heritage Tong Mingkang; and leaders from State Forestry Administration, Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage, International Society of Science and Peace, China Museum Association, China Association of National Science Museums, China Agricultural Museum, China Cultural Relics News, China Red Sandalwood Museum, and Chinese Ethnic Culture Park. Some other high officials were also invited to the ceremony: Chairman of International Council of Museums Jacques Perot, Senior Representative from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Yasuyuki Aoshima, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Region of the International Committee of Museums Amareswar Galla, Chair of Japanese Society of Science, and Cultural Councilor of South Korean Embassy.
The exposition was highly commended by honored guests. “The exposition plays an important role in accelerating the development of Chinese museums,” said He Luli. Luan Enjie said that the “exposition is a good approach to presentation and publication; we should attach more importance to publicizing museums to the communities.” He hopes to see more exhibitions like this. President Parot said that as the chairman of International Council of Museums, he’s been to the ‘International Museum Day’ on many occasions, but this Museum Exposition held in Beijing impressed him a lot, because it made him realize the great achievements that Chinese museums had made.
