From April 16 to May 12, 2001, Dr. Chris Isett, associate professor from the History Department, Minnesota University, U.S.A, a scholar on the Chinese agricultural history, was invited by the China Agricultural Museum for an academic visit. During the Sino-American Seminar of Chinese Agricultural History, Dr. Isett gave a thorough introduction of the developments and main academic views on the economic history of Chinese agriculture within the American academia, especially research findings in terms of the agricultural commercialization; rural market structure; effect of the national agricultural policies; and population growth and the problem of food supplies since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Dr. Cao Xingsui, assistant director of the academic committee and director of the CAM Research Department, introduced the current exhibitions and displays, academic research of China Agricultural Museum and international exchanges. Both spoke on mutually interested topics, promoting the Sino-American academic exchanges about Chinese agricultural history.
