Certified by the General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China, Ancient and Modern Agriculture (CN:11-4997/S; Q1951), as an academic quarterly, was started in 1987, and it first officially started publication in December 2002. The journal is issued by Beijng Distribution Bureau of Newspapers and Magazines, its mailing code being 80-129.

　　From the perspective of dialectical and historical materialism, the journal endeavors to cover the research on the agricultural history and realistic issues in this field; to set up an academic platform for scholars from home and abroad; to link the history with the domestic and international reality; and to serve the development of Chinese agricultural modernization.
